Boo! To Scary Food Additives

Chipotle’s popular Halloween fundraiser, Boorito, has returned. On Halloween, October 31, from 5 p.m. to closing, Chipotle is offering $3 burritos, bowls, salads, and tacos to customers who wear costumes with something unnecessary. This promotion is meant to showcase the simplicity of their ingredients, with proceeds benefitting the Chipotle Cultivate Foundation.

Chipotle Mexican Grill is known for quality fast-casual dining. They believe in “Food with Integrity” and use organic ingredients and naturally raised meat. They extend their beliefs through their foundation, which “provides resources and promotes good stewardship for farmers; promotes better livestock husbandry; encourages regenerative agriculture practices; and fosters food literacy, cooking education, and nutritious eating.”

This Halloween promotion takes their mission to a new level. It requires involvement from their customers. First, their customers have to dress up in costume. They may be doing that already. Second, their customers have to add something extra, something unnecessary, to their costume. This is a strong visual for the fact that Chipotle does not add anything extra to their food. The promotion also encourages people to come in and receive a discounted price for the food. People like a deal, and they like to have fun. By eating at Chipotle on Halloween, they will also learn something about food additives and help others in the process through the foundation. Great scary promotion!
