There are many reasons why a company would want to pick either to hire an in house SEO manager or outsource this work to an SEO firm. Today’s economy raises many questions regarding which direction a company might take to make this decision. You have to take a step back and wonder what would be the best choice for your company. You can come up with an endless list of pros and cons but at the end of the day you have to go with your gut. Weighing out all your options as a company will be very important in order to make the right choice. Here are some advantages and disadvantages to choosing either one.
In House SEO Specialist:
Having a person on your team in the same office you know that they are aboard 100% on your company’s projects. All attention is on your company and if you need to call a meeting it is easily done. When it comes to time to brainstorming about new SEO projects or work on current ones you don’t have to get in line for a conference call. The beauty is that everyone is on the same page. You can also include other departments in your company on the meeting so that everyone works together and knows what is going on. An in house person has full devotion to your product and service. They don’t have to dice up their energy between different clients.
The disadvantages stem around money. You can hire a very well respected search engine optimization company for less than paying the salary for an experienced SEO manager. In this market it is tough to hire new people for anything. Putting into consideration all the costs associated with a new hire as well.
Outsourced SEO Efforts:
The advantages to outsourcing your SEO efforts are that your costs could be significantly less than having to hire a new employee. If you hire a new employee there will be a ramp up period to get that employee caught up and actually putting the wheels in motion. An outsourced SEO firm can usually get things up to speed fairly quickly. If you decide you want to work with a different SEO company four months into the project you don’t have to spend a great deal of time going through the hiring type process if you needed a new in house SEO manager to hire.
The disadvantage of using an SEO firm is that there efforts are usually spread amongst a handful of clients they might have. An outsourced SEO firm is not always easily to get a hold of. Sometimes people sign aboard and don’t realize that a company might be overseas and then it could get very frustrating for an individual to get on the same time schedule when it comes to conference calls.
