First things first. Please make sure you have created a My Talent Zoo Account; provided a current, updated resume; and set your target markets and job title preferences.
This is the digital age, baby, so save your hard-copy books and reels for your onsite interviews. But by uploading your best work samples to your My Talent Zoo Account, TZ recruiters have access to your portfolio samples at their fingertips. No more trying to track you down to send us work - you have a ready-made package for Talent Zoo Scouts to market you to our high-profile clients - with your permission, of course.
There is also a field to enter a URL link to your portfolio site.
Once you have a My Talent Zoo Account, log in and go to Manage Portfolio. Remember, you can upload as many portfolio pieces as you wish to each of your résumés.
On occasion, a TZ Scout may request a minibook from you. If so, here are a few tips to help reduce the expense and hassle of preparing and shipping your portfolio:
Select It Please don't send your entire creative archive. Only share a choice selection from your portfolio to Talent Zoo. Quality, NOT quantity, baby!
Duplicate It Be sure to have copies made and send only non-returnable samples to Talent Zoo. If you request a return, please provide pre-paid return packaging.
Digitize It If you're sending digital copies of your print work, please provide the campaign in JPG or PDF files on CD-ROM or DVD. The same goes for broadcast pieces - e-samples are best, like Quicktime files and mp3s.
Shoot It If you must send a reel, be sure to use a .5-inch VHS tape.
Mount It The word on the street on mounting work is "Yuck-o!" Forget the foamcore, black mat, lamination, clamshells, Spray Mount, and all that jazz. Jay Chiat said it best: "It's about the work." Talent Zoo agrees. Just show us the work, baby!
Pack It Package your work well to keep it protected - nothing fancy. Tossing your portfolio in a pizza box and having Domino's deliver is clever, but your work, not a pizza box stunt, will say if you're the next Alex Bogusky or not. Besides, when we see a pizza box around Talent Zoo we expect a pizza with all the fixin's.
Ship It Use a parcel service you know and trust and ship your work to: Talent Zoo 1736 Defoor Pl. Atlanta, GA 30318
You're It Talent Zoo will NEVER send your portfolio to a prospective employer without your consent. Your portfolio is your property and is merely stored with Talent Zoo. Once your permission is granted to release your portfolio, Talent Zoo will forward your book.
