- Love yourself.
- Love your work.
- Love your craft.
- Love your coworkers. (If you work solo, repeat #1)
- Love your client/s.
- Love this thing you're reading this on.
What's with all this "love" stuff?
It's what everybody, wants but, oh, I'm not supposed to talk about it here? In fact, if anyone knows a brand that is talking about love (and I don't mean as in "I love my car" or "this taco") but real, spiritual, true, ecstatic love, please post a link in the comments so we can all see. Here's an invitation to try something that I find amazing and which genuinely changed my life.
When you pause, breathe, close your eyes, and think "love" before you do anything, something wonderful can happen. (I say "can" and not "will" because I have no idea where love stands in your life and experiences.)
So when you pause, breathe, close your eyes, and think "love" before you do anything...here's exactly what wonderful thing happens...
In your body, phenylethylamine, dopamine, and other chemicals might be released. You might get a happy, tingly feeling.
In your mind, you might suddenly feel lighter, more positive, and bright. You might even, very possibly, feel connected to all life, to all beings, and get a rush of divine oneness and ecstasy.
You might smile more. You might think differently about your coworkers, clients, friends, vendors, and strangers.
They all might feel your vibrations of love and smile back.
This vibration of love just might keep on spreading and manifest in countless positive ways.
It just might.
All because of you.
Believe it or not, this is all quite possible. And after all, you have nothing to lose — except maybe that sour mood, that neck and backache, and stomach cramps.
Yes, I loved writing this.
And tomorrow (as it's late at night now), a lot of people are going to receive a lot of happy, loving energy from me.
I feel it makes my work brighter, my day happier and my body healthier.
I hope you try this.
PS. Here are a few quotes about Love and Work:
“Work is love made visible. And if you cannot work with love but only with distaste, it is better that you should leave your work and sit at the gate of the temple and take alms of those who work with joy.” —Kahill Gibran
“Your task is not to seek for love, but merely to seek and find all the barriers within yourself that you have built against it.” —Rumi
“Differences of habit and language are nothing at all if our aims are identical and our hearts are open.” —J. K. Rowling
“I have looked in the mirror every morning and asked myself: ‘If today were the last day of my life, would I want to do what I am about to do today?’ And whenever the answer has been ‘No’ for too many days in a row, I know I need to change something.” —Steve Jobs
