Social Media Listening Tools
 
Following up on social media measurement, Sorav Jain on the Social Media Today blog offers a primer on SM listening—"25 Ways to Listen to Customers on Social Media."  Listening, of course, is a precondition for engagement, and here are tips on tools from Google, Yahoo, and Twitter to Postrank and Guzzle. Guzzle?

We haven't used Guzzle ourselves yet, but Sorav explains that it "automatically categorizes feeds by inspecting and analyzing each feed. When you require any information on a particular keyword, Guzzle instantly provides the latest information, using the pre-categorized results."

To be proficient  in social media engagement—that is, to survive in public relations from now on—we need to be proficient in tools like these. They can save a lot of time and uncertainty as to how we're doing out there.
