Piecing PR Together, As In a Lovely Park

Natalie Middleton, of Vancouver, WA, has some sort of relationship to Nereus Commuications in Beaverton, OR, for she's writing on the Nereus blog. We dislike blog formats that don't make such relationships clear. Nonetheless, Natalie has a great way of setting marketing/PR services apart — by associating them with popular, well-designed local facilities and explaining how good outreach needs to be similarly well-conceived.

She's speaking, in this instance, of Esther Short Park in Vancouver: "Apparently this park has been designed so well, that it 'has proven to be a catalyst that has contributed to a surge of economic development in downtown Vancouver.' Every detail of the park had been thought through down to the placement of the bathrooms, garbage cans and recycling bins."

Natalie then switches to good marketing/PR, which, as we know, is likewise challenging in process terms: "Creating a strategic marketing communications plan is similar. There are several individual marketing solutions or marketing concepts that could help draw attention to your brand such as ads, contributed articles or online videos, but the true power comes when you develop an integrated marketing strategy." You get the idea.

Pick an admired facility in your area. Document what went into building or providing it. Then associate that with the challenging complexity of a creative PR plan. We bet you'll gain attention when, on their own, claims of your prowess might not grab folks. It's a neat concept to get people thinking about all that goes into creativity.

Next, the Biz2Credit blog has some good tips for differentiating your business from others; the place it all starts.
