Judy Gombita on the PR Conversations blog led us to the Public Relations Society of America's annual effort to assemble public relations trends for the coming year, in this case, of course, 2013. As a PRSA spokesperson explained to Judy, "This is the third year that PRSA has put together its 'Top Trends of the coming year' series. We look to industry thought leaders and ask for their opinion on what the top trends will be during the year."
Thirteen practitioners have been asked to contribute their thinking on trends; Judy is one of them. She's posting a link to each day's contribution on PR Conversations, starting with the #PRin2013 introductory post. This will doubtless be occurring over the coming month.
So far, the areas of initial predictions are: Demand for Accountability Will Rise (Kirk Hazlett, APR), Trends That Will Shape What's Next (Elise S. Mitchell), Global PR and Internal Communication Trends (Judy Gombita), Pageview Journalism's Increasing Rise (Ron Culp) and Not Losing Your Social Media Shirt in 2013 (Nathan Burgess).
A worthy, helpful effort by all! It can be followed on Twitter at #PRin2013.
To accompany the PRSA effort, we include a prSpeak post on techniques for accomplishing the goals you set for the year.
