So Agency Spy spotted a hilarious campaign by DSW and Onion Labs. And it will only be a short time before PETA goes batty and demands for it to be taken down.

Onion Labs and DSW Shoes started this new campaign that is designed to raise awareness of the style and affordability of men's shoes. According to the source, the group is calling the campaign "bad pet owners."
And that is just the beginning.
The first spot, "The Goat," features a man who is a terrible pet owner. Every pet he owns meets its demise. So what does the bad pet owner do? He goes to DSW and buys a pair of shoes in order to use the shoe box for his pet cemetery. Also, on Onion.com, DSW is sponsoring a spot on its website that pulls up a bunch of past articles that mentioned pets in precarious circumstances.

If pet owners (which we are) get upset about the ad featuring running your pets to death, the outcry about this ad should be highly entertaining.
When the Onion is involved in anything, you have to expect that they are going to push what is considered "socially acceptable." And this spot certainly met our expectations. Kudos to DSW for having a sense of humor, and hopefully the marketing folks who OK'd this continue to have jobs after the complaints subside.
