We're a little behind the curve on this, but want to be sure you're aware of Twitter's analytics function. It allows you to get a pretty good sense of how your Tweets are doing via a dashboard spanning the past month. The feature is available via Twitter's ads platform, but doesn't require buying an ad to use. It functions, actually, as an incentive to pay greater heed to Twitter (if you need such a prod) and to post more regularly and deliberately there.
In the update of his exemplary book, "The Tao of Twitter," just issued, Mark Schaefer notes that Twitter's analytics dashboard provides "a report of your recent follower activity, the performance of your tweets, and an ability to sort and download a simple report...If you need something more than this simple report, my recommendation is to do a web search for 'Twitter analytics' and look for a recent blog post comparing the prices and capabilities of available services."
Yet Twitter's analytics feature itself is free and a good place to start on gaining a better understanding of your Twitter presence and how to build on it.
