In the last ten years or so, we have been seeing a trend in live, established auctions heading to the web for reach of broader audience bases with the objective of maximizing bids and securing new bidders. In fact, this has been effective for police and government auctions, which seemed to almost compete with eBay Motors in selling quality, used cars for less. In the most recent years, we have seen an uptick in those same companies adopting the “live bids” system, which has taken the standard 7- to 10-day auction period and recreated a live auction environment. These interactive auctions, in contrast, would take place over the course of an hour in many circumstances.
Enter NamesCon2016. NamesCon, for those who don’t already know, is a “Domain Name Industry Event” that takes place between January 10 and 13 in Las Vegas. Founder Richard Lau will be there. RightOfTheDot and NameJet have partnered in the launch of a new, premium auction that will synchronize interests to meet with the actual live domain auction being held at NamesCon2016. In reverse of traditional auctions, these partners are taking online auctions to an offline platform, leading a collaboration to produce “one of the most exciting domain events of the year.” With large audiences in attendance, RightOfTheDot will demonstrate why they have gained notoriety for being one of the leading domain sales, brokerage, and auction firms in the industry. A consulting and advertising firm, they will be featuring some of the most sought-after domains, including over 400 names, 100–125 of which won’t even have a reserve attached to them.

Bidding for domains is now live on the NameJet website, as domains are continuously added until the end of November. A NameJet account is required to participate in both the live and online auction, which are set to close 10 days post-NamesCon event.
