Murdochs Make Ethics Look Messy

It's fair to say that the early innings of the testimony of Rupert and James Murdoch before a committee of the British Parliamant demonstrated that corporate ethics are not a matter of gobbledygook or evasive regrets but of clearly stated and enforced standards of conduct. This much, at least, is an important contribution from the miasma of the Murdoch style of corporate management on display at the hearing.

"This is the most humbling day of my life," said Rupert Murdoch as the session opened. Indeed, if he has become aware of the demanding requirements of knowing what is actually occurring in a business, however large it may be, and what is expected of its managers, there can be gains for the global marketplace from the Murdoch mess.
