Journalism Jobs Keep Dropping

The numbers tell the story, or a lot of it anyway. Journalism is a failing field, as reflected in a Washington Post chart on the decline in the newspaper workforce. It dropped by 10 percent from last year to now, and 39 percent over the last decade.

The numbers are from the American Society of Newspaper Editors' 2015 newsroom census and The Post’s Chris Cillizza calls the drop “staggering; there’s simply no way that the growth in online-only publications has made up for the massive erosion in daily newspapers.”

Does this portend a world without context? That’s something to think, and fret, about.
