Impact Makes Slides Shine

If you're not already signed up for Slideshare (it's free at the basic level), check it out. You can view slide presentations posted by all sorts of organizations. One pair of postings we especially recommend is the "before" and "after" set from AlexanderG PR. They're an instant course on maximum impact from a slide presentation—for your firm or a client's business.

The difference between the two sets of slides is impact—the new set does it with more art and less type, and it's terrific. When you think about a presentation, it's for focus, not actual listening. Hopefully, the audience is listening to the presenter, with the slides as signposts, not instructional material.

The revised set of Greenwood slides will keep an audience awake; we're not sure what the originals did. As Alex Greenwood himself puts it: "Al (Bonner, of Presentation Transformations) took my clunky Keynote presentation and smoothed out the rough transitions, fonts and multimedia elements. His expertise transformed it into a consistent, creative presentation that will help me focus on sharing information rather than fooling with a gimmicky, clunky slide show."

Indeed. The focus of the new version is on impact, a setting in which Alex Greenwood can be heard to best advantage. Once you view the two versions, and get a sense of the differences, you're ready to do better with your own slides.

Here's a great advisory about slides from Al Bonner: "Bullets can kill."

Thanks guys!
