The year is finally winding down. Yes, I do still think of “the year” as defined by the school calendar, even oh-so-many years after having left school. Old habits die hard. The weather is warming up, the garden is beckoning, and the nightmare of putting on a bathing suit again (I stay far away from mirrors!) is rapidly approaching. Before that, there are a few events of interest you may want to check out:
AdAge — Social Engagement Conference
May 9 – NYC Hilton
The Social Engagement/Social TV Conference is a revolutionary cross-disciplinary event that will gather together the best minds from the media, social-analytics, brand and agency worlds. Topics include the state of art in social listening, moving beyond data-crunching to glean actionable insights from social listening, and best practices for brands engaging through Social TV and beyond.
Word of Mouth Crash Course
May 10 – Austin, TX
The Word of Mouth Crash Course is a mix of intense training, a rock show, and a family reunion. 2012 CLIO Awards

Blogworld and New Media Expo
June 6 & 7 – Javits Center, NYC
BlogWorld is a must-attend social media event, hosting thousands of attendees from 50+ countries, with more than 200 speakers. This is their second year in New York and they are planning three days of cutting-edge conference sessions and eye-opening keynotes. 2012 attendees will also find a thriving tradeshow and great evening networking mixers. This is the only industry-wide event bringing the global community of content creators and publishers together all under one roof.
Social Media Conference
June 21 & 22 – Beverly Hills, CA
Social Media Conference is the largest expo that investigates social media and strategy, including strategic communications. Some of the topics explored: social networks and social media, mobile technologies, legal, venture capital funding, military strategy, leaked information, business planning, wireless/mobile technology, and new technologies. There’s a pre-event scheduled for June 20 for newbies to the social media industry.
Hopefully, bathing suits are not required!
