Getting Help on Personal Branding

In a time of stress in PR employment, it's well to consider the concept of personal branding -- taking explicit steps to improve your professional identity and reach. We've come upon some great Web resources to help. Here's a wealth of current guidance on personal branding just a few clicks away:

First, there's Linda VandeVrede's PR Strategy blog, in which she helps people in traditional PR get the hang of PR 2.0, including techniques for building reputation and goodwill online. In a post entitled "Ways to stretch your personal brand based on brand management concepts," she turns the blog over to Steve Chu, a management consultant and business development pro. He give some tips on stretching personal brands and links to a great further source, Dan Schawbel's Personal Branding Blog.

Schawbel is the author of Me 2.0, a book on personal branding, and his latest post is on "10 Personal Branding Predictions for 2010."  Most of the highlighted techniques are in the context of the Web and social media.
