Gauging Online Presence With Klout

We've got to give Cut-It-Out Communications, Inc., of Westchester County, NY, credit for introducing us to Klout, even though their news release on PRWeb opens with typing sounds. First time we heard it, we thought something in the office had broken.

Anyway, Klout looks like a remarkable tool for measuring online influence via Twitter, Facebook, and LinkedIn. Cut-It-Out is using it both for "internal business development and client publicity."

"Klout is great," says Willy Gissen, Cut-It-Out's president, "because it takes into account retweets, mentions and comments, thus creating a true measure of online influence. In addition, its scoring is accurate, precise and responsive to daily changes in user behavior, making it both a valuable barometer and just plain interactive fun. Social media professionals will ask each other about their Klout scores in the same way others might ask what you do for a living.”

An abstract score is not necessarily an imprimatur of anything insofar as your actual influence is concerned. Or is it? The Web marches on!
