Content is the oldest form of marketing. Dating back to when newspapers where first used to communicate information and now online with blogs and articles and various other forms of communication. Below are some ways content marketing works for many businesses:

Blog writing is an excellent form of content marketing that kills a few birds with one stone. Each blog serves a slightly different purpose. Some blogs are industry related, some are used as a voice and others do it for self promotion. Whatever your choice ends up being it is the content that drives your marketing efforts. Once you write your blog posts there are many ways to drive that content out into the open. Some people leave links in the Twitter tweets, some tag them in Linkedin groups and some push them through the various social bookmarking websites.

Press Releases: A press release is a great way to get your announcement out into the online community. Depending on how you distribute your release you can really push it out there for everyone to see. Press release marketing is a form of contacting marketing that can also be used in many different ways. If you are a business that requires a cleaning of your image online content marketing in the form of press releases is a great way to target your business name in order to clean things up while marketing a business name through means of content.

These are great points. Do you have any specific recommendations with regard to which services to use for press release distribution?

The best writing on the topic of writing I've come across in a good while - thoughtful, concise, coming from the position of expert, not written from a promotional stand point :-) Will tweet. PS. how about add "website" to your comments box?
