Our downtown Portland office is currently recruiting for a Marketing Automation Coordinator to coordinate and execute tasks within our marketing automation platform to help manage our customer’s journey along key communication touchpoints (or what we like to call Visitor Lifecycle Management (VLM)). This is an exciting opportunity for a talented individual early in their marketing automation career to join the team in the entry stages of the platform build and help develop the final platform.
Ongoing duties will include audience segmentation, rule building, content selection and development, program maintenance, launch timing, and performance evaluation.  This role will also coordinate processes and documentation and provide assistance with gathering and ensuring quality control on various forms of data and reporting on the performance of our award-winning marketing campaigns. 
The successful candidate is a self-motivated, detail-oriented, and energetic, with a passion for marketing data, processes and documentation, and an eye for quality in marketing communications.  In addition, here’s what we expect you to bring to the table:
  • A Bachelor’s degree with a marketing or analytics focus is preferred; additional, relative experience and/or training will be considered in lieu of a degree.
     
  • A minimum of two (2) years’ experience/exposure to brand marketing and marketing plan development and a basic understanding of online analytics/insights across key channels/platforms including (but not limited to): website, advertising, search, and social media required.
     
  • Prior experience with marketing automation platforms like Marketo, Pardot, Act-On, etc completing tasks like segmenting lists, building email templates and ensuring inbox delivery, required. Working understanding of database architecture and queries strongly preferred.
     
  • One-year experience working experience with MS Office Suite, Google Analytics, Google Tag Manager, Google Search Console, etc., required. Familiarity with paid search marketing and SEO marketing preferred.
  • Strong writing skills with experience drafting copy.
     
  • A passion for flawless execution and continuous optimization.
     
  • An unfettered love of Oregon, its people and its places.
  • BONUS POINTS: Experience with SQL, CSS or HTML/HTML 5 and experience working with Business Intelligence tools like Tableau, Domo, Birst, etc.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Visitor Lifecycle Management (VLM)
  • Supports the development and implementation of the VLM program and marketing automation platform to automate custom content delivery throughout Travel Oregon’s marketing channels.  Ensures accurate data imports, develops logic flows, tracks and reports on VLM key performance indicators (KPIs).
  • Assists with the day-to-day implementation of a comprehensive lead management strategy by maintaining/analyzing data within the VLM program database. Prepares leads for entry into marketing flows. Ensures consistency and quality control measures are applied to data and email subscribers comply with parameters/requirements related to opt-in requirements.
  • Coordinates lifecycle marketing campaigns for upcoming emails, ensuring messaging, design considerations, audience segmentation and testing plans are aligned and executed; works with the Content and Marketing Services teams to track/oversee the delivery of all necessary assets. Works closely with content team and ensures all content used in VLM campaigns is accurate, updated and aligns with the Travel Oregon brand voice.
  • Assists with and maintains the VLM program database fields and data mapping document. Maintains a thorough understanding of system structure and table relations. 
  • Coordinates the daily activities within the marketing automation platform, executing campaigns that maximize retention and focus on lead nurturing. Tasks include audience segmentation, rule building, content selection and development, program maintenance, launch timing, and performance evaluation to aid in monitoring and reporting on campaign results.
  • Collaborates with the Insights & Planning Analyst and Integrated Marketing content team to select and and/or compose content for compelling specialty emails that resonate with consumers, including campaign emails, opt-ins, thank you messages, survey requests, etc.
  • Establishes and documents marketing processes to ensure best-in-class execution.
  • Maintains an understanding of Travel Oregon’s brand marketing and editorial strategy, email marketing best practices and applies in accordance to the execution of email marketing and lead nurturing campaigns.
Advertising
  • Coordinates Universal Tracking Measure (UTM) codes with vendors. Monitors and compiles information.
  • Builds tracking pixels for third-party attribution partners (ie, Arrivalist, Adara), as well as for media partners for advertising retargeting strategies.
  • Ensures VLM strategies are mapped to seasonal marketing campaign goals.
  • Coordinates with paid search agency to construct and monitor keywords for always-on campaign and seasonal campaigns.
  • Maintains industry benchmarks across applicable marketing metrics.
  • Works with Insights & Planning Manager and partner agencies to compile results from seasonal marketing campaigns, including gathering and storing raw data and building recap presentations.
  • Formats various data for usability and review/analysis by the Insights & Planning Manager. Assembles raw data from media partners into usable formats/actionable reports.
  • Attends weekly advertising, editorial and other strategy meetings.
Reporting Preparation/General
  • Provides data collection support and monitors the data flow into marketing KPI dashboards. Recognizes data anomalies and troubleshoots data flow issues. Identifies improved methods of data collection wherever possible/relevant.
  • Assists with maintaining the business intelligence platform by preparing data and ensuring readiness for entry.
  • Coordinates with other departments to assist in the organization of data assets to support the creation of dashboards.
  • Represents and/or speaks at public and partner meetings on behalf of the MIVS studio, as needed.
  • Attends internal meetings and work groups, as needed.
WORKING RELATIONSHIPS
  • Daily in-person‑ and telephone contact and/or written correspondence with internal and external stakeholders, including vendors. Works closely within the MIVS studio to ensure coordination of efforts.
  • Regular coordination with the Integrated Marketing team on content for the VLM program.
  • Position is managed by the MIVS Director, who provides guidance and reviews performance through regular conferences and annual appraisals. This position receives daily workflow supervision from the Insights & Planning Manager.
QUALIFICATIONS

  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills required to interact with internal and external stakeholders, including the ability to make presentations.
  • Demonstrated customer service orientation and the ability to respond to expectations and requirements of both internal and external stakeholders.
  • The willingness to work hours beyond the standard daily or weekly schedule when necessary and the ability, on occasion, to travel in or out-of-state, as needed.
