The Advertising Sales Manager is responsible for advertising sales, sales support and marketing efforts to drive advertising revenue within the SHRM media brands - website, e-newsletter, webcasts, print magazines; these play a key role in helping SHRM achieve its overall revenue and operating margin goals. This position reports to the VP, Advertising Sales and works collaboratively with internal and external partners to drive revenue growth through the improvement of client retention, maximizing current advertising inventories, launching new products, direct sales to new business prospects and implementing line extensions to current media offerings in order to achieve and exceed revenue goals. Position manages Sales Support and Advertising Operations team to support innovative sales strategies for the sales team.
Manage, monitor and coach sales team throughout sales cycle. Work with VP of Sales to ensure monthly goals/milestones are on track.
Manage and monitor resource requirements within advertising sales function to ensure adequate support to achieve sales goals.
Identify, develop and deliver sales proposals in a professionally persuasive manner to new business prospects - clients and client segments not currently promoting within SHRM media digital or print products.
Direct and manage sales support activities for SHRM's digital and print products as well as initiating processes to identify new business opportunities for the SHRM media brand.
Optimize programs with third party vendors (i.e. Salesforce, Marketo, MediaRadar) to manage sales pipeline and identify and recommend improvements in prospecting and reporting functions to shorten sales cycles.
Review competitive activity for print, online and other SHRM media offerings - develop and recommend improvements to reporting dashboards that track performance and provide sales with new business prospects.
Participates in the development of Digital Team's revenue goals.
Attend Industry tradeshows.
Position acts as back up support for Sales Support and Ad Operations function.
Other projects and duties as assigned.
Minimum 5 - 7 years sales management experience.
Recent experience in advertising sales management in digital media.
Successful track record in digital media advertising sales.
Knowledge of Customer Relationship Management and Marketing Automation Software
Exposure to B2B media sales and online e-commerce.
Knowledge of the HR Industry.
Recruiting, Hiring and Training new employees.
