|Title: Digital Designer
|Location: New York, NY
Hey! We love meeting new people who share our same passions and who want to work with organizations we are passionate about – nonprofits, social enterprises, even those with a religious background or charter. We are looking for a full-time Digital Designer to work in our New York office.
Who We Are
We started FiveStone with the vision that design could lead people to change. We want to see a world where thoughtful organizations win and good pushes itself into every aspect of society.
To do that, FiveStone locks arms with organizations fighting to make the world a better place. We use design to help non-profits and social enterprises solve their biggest challenges and create positive impact.
Our work at FiveStone sits squarely within the Human Centered Design tradition. This approach keeps the people we are designing for at the heart of our work and ensures solutions specific to them. While our methods and tools may change, and the things we design vary, our work always falls within three main categories: Innovation, Branding, and Digital Marketing
Who You Are
You have at least 1-3 years digital design experience at an agency or in a similar environment.
You’re a unique blend of creativity and "digitalness" who enjoys working with others to accomplish objectives.
You’re an early adopter; filled with a sense of genuine fascination of the digital space and a natural hunger for what’s next.
You pride yourself on being proficient in digital design, while also understanding usability, UX and technology.
You have a killer design aesthetic that is always progressing (your first type choice is no longer Gotham).
You’re knowledgeable in Adobe Creative Cloud, but actually proficient in the current wave of digital design tools like Sketch, Invision, and Atom.
You have proficiency in responsive, device-based design.
You are knowledgeable in popular marketing tools such as MailChimp and Unbounce.
You have a great design portfolio showcasing a variety of interactive projects.
You have an entrepreneurial spirit.
You are a pop philosopher and understand design thinking and how it applies to all facets of an organization.
You understand the vibe of a small agency.
You are agile and can adjust gears to go with the flow as needed.
You like being an integral part of a team.
What You Will Do
Take ideas and concepts and turn them into fully realized designs.
Workshop and iterate designs according to goals and client needs.
Follow a creative process (and implement your own as well) to take an idea to design, then to development, then to launch (with other team members along the way, of course).
Defend and explain design choices internally and to clients.
Pitch in across other digital disciplines to deliver the best client products and experiences.
Think digitally in all projects and constantly learn new skills.
Utilize tools such as Slack, Dropbox, Harvest, and the like.
What You Know
Because of your past experience or independent learning, you have a healthy mix of this knowledge:
A digital design background and an interest in and aptitude for developing creative marketing solutions.
A strong competency and knowledge of current digital and social frameworks, platforms, tools, products, etc.
How to deploy excellent communication skills, including the ability to participate in meetings and manage communications in a responsive, friendly and professional manner.
How to take a project from an idea to a finished solution, even if you are figuring it out as you go.
How to prioritize your work based on client and agency dynamics.
How to manage multiple projects, teams and timelines.
The way to gracefully and tactfully say “yes” as well as “no” and defend your answer in a way that adds value to the team and client.
