Cincinnati
Cincinnati is where the North and the South meet and where Appalachia gives way to the Midwest, a convergence of culture that lends to a city with diverse heritage and deep roots. An early leader in American performing arts, Cincinnati’s vivid music scene ranges from the United States’ second-oldest opera, to alt-rap visionaries, indie rock renegades and funkadelic icons. Two professional sports teams include the NFL’s Cincinnati Bengals and the country’s original professional baseball team, the Cincinnati Reds. The setting for one of modern literature’s seminal works, Tony Morrison’s Pulitzer-prize winning Beloved, and the home of the National Underground Railroad Freedom Center, Cincinnati is truly built from the union of American thought and culture.
