Writes copy for direct mail, advertisements and other collateral for retail. Leads the conceptual development of seasonal and corporate campaigns with the art director. Must be able to provide quick creative solutions, take charge of multiple projects and write compelling copy that is backed by sound strategy.
Primary Responsibilities:
Creative Development
•Leads conceptual development for campaigns (e.g., seasonal, corporate, cause-related)
•Acts as strategic architect of creative solutions
•Sets the standard for Kohl's copy style
•Works closely with art directors and designers to develop concepts for projects and campaigns
•Mentors other writers
Creative Management
•Responsible for attending creative meetings and project touchbases
•Attends and presents creative at creative reviews with design and copy manager
•Writes and presents rationale for client presentations as assigned
• Works with internal clients, art directors, designers and production designers, and QC throughout life of project to incorporate changes, input proof comments and ensure copy is up to date and accurate.
Project Management
•Responsible for updating files and copy to reflect changes on creative requests.
•Responsible for adhering to production schedules and monitoring all updates.
•Responsible for knowing the status of each project and managing daily calendar to ensure milestones and deadlines are met.
Required Qualifications:
•4-year college degree in English or related subject and minimum three years' work experience in writing.
•Superior grasp of grammar and style as indicated by test
•Demonstrated copywriting ability as indicated by writing samples
•Strong ideation and communication skills
•Proficient in Word
Preferred Qualifications:
•Retail experience preferred, but not required.
