Motherboard's Classy Move |

All over the interwebs, tons of digital ink has been spilled regarding the value (and honor system) behind the embargo system, where PR people offer journalists advanced looks at upcoming news. The goal for PR is simple: line up coverage in advance of the news becoming public. It's equally simple for journalists: have an idea of what's coming up, and be able to take the time to write a story, as opposed to simply rehashing what's in the press release.
It all sound simple enough, except there are any number of things that can go wrong. A journalist might be eager to break the news first, in order to be the top ranking on Google for a story and pick up shares across social media and sharing sites. A PR person might actually forget to ask for an embargo date. Yes...really. This all ignores the headache of times zones, which can create their own issues.
It's against this backdrop that I was really impressed with the way that Motherboard recently handled an embargo that the site broke.
Total class, Motheboard.
Keep up the good work.
