Register PR People as Lobbyists With the Press? Come On!

A New York State agency is demonstrating the sort of overreach that causes government to have bad PR for good reason. It’s considering classifying PR pros as lobbyists when they contact media outlets about issues of public interest. When a PR agency calls or emails a reporter, it would need to be logged as a public transaction or a hefty fine could be imposed? Come on, now. Whatever the ethics issues may be in Albany, this is definitely a reach too far.
