In relational terms, we were moved by and appreciated a message issued last week by Amtrak's president and CEO, Joe Boardman, on the wreck of Train 188. The statement was apparently issued by Amtrak's Marketing Department, and really makes the point that PR is a complex craft that can't be conducted on the basis of sentiments alone – it takes commitment by everyone in an organization to doing the right things - like installing Positive Train Control – on a timely basis, whatever that might have been in this instance.
