Was 'Pi in the Sky' a Confounding Stunt?

Pardon me for getting Flack Me's week off to a grumpy start, but could it be that EMSI Public Relations has provided us with an aerial display of the difference between marketing and public relations that might better have been left on the ground? Writing "Pi in the Sky" endlessly over the SXSW meeting in Austin last week might have seemed clever, but how about all the folks on the ground who might have had little or no idea of what was going on? Was such aerial sophistication a good relational move down below?

Could it have been, oh dear, an ill-conceived exercise in puffery?
