Slow It Down — Creativity's Your Due |

Heather Yaxley on her Greenbanana blog makes a point that hits home but that we don't have time to pursue further at the moment — maybe we ought to go slower in these fast-moving times. Maybe, indeed, we should. The heart of public relations is strategy, the approach we decide on before turning to tactics, and the feedback we seek and gain to sense how we're doing and to change course as advisable. Overall, that's a slow perception-inducing process, or should be.
Yet, as Heather notes, "Fast is an approach to coping with the modern world where we are overloaded with information and supposedly time poor....The same seems to apply to public relations — no time for planning, evaluation, thinking or reflecting. Quick, quick, get that message out — tweet, tweet, or vine it in seconds..."
So Ms. Yaxley wonders, what would Slow Public Relations look like? We leave you to ponder that intriguing question; creativity's your due. But we've got to move on.
