Ever read Gawker? You should. It has just the right amount of smarm and journalistic testicular fortitude, with just a dash of meh when it comes to anyone named 'Kardashian,' 'Lohan,' or whatever the hell a 'Snooki' is.
Well, now flacks from across this great land of ours have a reason to check out Gawker as they introduce its new section, "PR Dummies."
PR Professionals with any amount of integrity will tell you this profession is chock full of dorks, dimwits, and dolts. You know the type. The "I enjoy working in PR because I really love people" people. Many journos have seen the world's worst pitch. Some post them in the newsroom making that individual's agency the laughing stock of the market. Others find a way to publicly ridicule said flack. And then there are some that send it to places like Gawker's apparent muse (and personal fave of yours truly) "Bad Pitch Blog."
So, here is the inaugural missive from Gawker's raucous platform:

Subject: OLIVIA MUNN PHOTO - SHOPPING IN NYC
SPOTTED: Sexy actress Olivia Munn shopping for Tropicana Trop50 Orange Juice drink in NYC. Trop 50 has 50 percent less calories and 50 percent less sugar that the average juice. Photo credit: 5WPR.
That's it. No story development. No insight. Just blatant shilling for orange juice draped in something that would possibly make TMZ shrill like a school girl. Seriously? People think that will get the dander up in a real journalist? Thanks, but I'll stick with Simply Orange. Or mouthwash.
So, if you enjoy the "visual," please click on the link. Otherwise, for those who appreciate skilled pitches, don't visit this offering from Gawker because you certainly won't get that expertise here.
