Remember The Powerpuff Girls? The show first debuted on Cartoon Network in 1998, following a short appearance in the animation showcase, What a Cartoon! in 1995 and 1996. Blossom, Bubbles, and Buttercup were relevant until the show concluded in 2005.
Nineties kids are rejoicing at the 2016 reboot of the high-action girl power-infused animated series, scheduled to debut on Monday, April 4 at 6 p.m. EST/PT.
Cartoon Network has utilized Twitter, via the #PowerpuffYourself hashtag, which allows users to share their self-created Powerpuff selves through the Powerpuff Yourself app.
To Powerpuff yourself, you’re allowed a variety of choices. Multiple skin tones, eye styles, hairdos, outfits, and accessories enable each user to customize their Powerpuff avatar. Once satisfied with the final design, users can download their creation(s) in png, jpg, and/or gif formats.
Thus far, Cristela Alonzo, Rick O’Shea, and Tom Kavanagh of I Divide have gotten in on the Powerpuff Yourself action. Fuse TV cranked out twenty-one mainstream musician versions, including Justin Bieber, Beyoncé, Twenty One Pilots, Adele, Drake, and Zayn Malik. Entertainment Weekly took the liberty of fashioning a Powerpuff’ed version of One Direction (Zayn Malik included).
Since The Powerpuff Girls' eleven-year break, new producers, animators, and voice artists have emerged for the series reboot.
Here’s hoping the new team will carry the Powerpuff torch without interference from Mojo Jojo.
