NamesCon: Online Bidding Comes Offline To Mingle with The People

In the last ten years or so, we have been seeing a trend in live, established auctions heading to the web for reach of broader audience bases with the objective of maximizing bids and securing new bidders. In fact, this has been effective for police and government auctions, which seemed to almost compete with eBay Motors in selling quality, used cars for less. In the most recent years, we have seen an uptick in those same companies adopting the “live bids” system, which has taken the standard 7- to 10-day auction period and recreated a live auction environment. These interactive auctions, in contrast, would take place over the course of an hour in many circumstances.

Enter NamesCon2016. NamesCon, for those who don’t already know, is a “Domain Name Industry Event” that takes place between January 10 and 13 in Las Vegas. Founder Richard Lau will be there. Joining him will be Michael H. Berkens, Esq. and Co-Founder, Monte Cahn of RightOfTheDot, LLC, and the team at NameJet. According to Frank Schilling, CEO and Founder of Uniregistry, “NamesCon has become the domain name industry’s premier showcase event. It’s affordable, registrant-centric and singularly the most important conference for those who make a living with domain names.”

The award-winning NameJet, LLC, founded in 2007, is the partnership and venture forged between eNom, Inc., as subsideairy of Rigtside (NASDAQ:NAME), and Network Solutions, LLC, a subsidiary of Web.com (NASDAQ: WWWW). It’s the world’s leading domain name auction platform. It is considered to be “the industry’s most trusted auction and aftermarket services provider.”

RightOfTheDot and NameJet have partnered in the launch of a new, premium auction that will synchronize interests to meet with the actual live domain auction being held at NamesCon2016. In reverse of traditional auctions, these partners are taking online auctions to an offline platform, leading a collaboration to produce “one of the most exciting domain events of the year.” With large audiences in attendance, RightOfTheDot will demonstrate why they have gained notoriety for being one of the leading domain sales, brokerage, and auction firms in the industry. A consulting and advertising firm, they will be featuring some of the most sought-after domains, including over 400 names, 100–125 of which won’t even have a reserve attached to them.

“NameJet and RightOfTheDot make the perfect combination for this premier event,” stated Monte Cahn, President and Director of RightOfTheDot, LLC. “Our market leading positions and expertise in domain sales, auctions, and brokerage in new and existing Top Level Domains will make for the most successful NamesCon auction yet!”

In response, Scott Pruitt, Marketing Director of NameJet, states: “We are excited to be working with RightOfTheDot and NamesCon in this exclusive auction event. RightOfTheDot and NamesCon are leaders in the domain space, and with NameJet’s strong position in the domain aftermarket we are looking forward to seeing some great results.”

Bidding for domains is now live on the NameJet website, as domains are continuously added until the end of November. A NameJet account is required to participate in both the live and online auction, which are set to close 10 days post-NamesCon event. Exclusive auctions, showcasing premium domains, will remain open until November 20 on the RightOfTheDot website here.

With RightOfTheDot’s vast experience in the domain sales industry, all participants have a reason for excitement. Both principals within the organization are members of the prestigious “Domain Hall of Fame” and have worked together in the sales of over $350M in domains, as well as contributing to over 22 successful launches for sTLDs, gTLDS and ccTLDs.

Richard Lau leaves us with a word about NamesCon: “The entire NamesCon team is looking forward to hosting NamesCon 2016, where the domain name industry comes together for a full agenda of intense networking, content, exhibits and even a domain auction. This is the only MUST ATTEND Internet naming event on everyone’s annual calendar. See you there!”
