I have seen a lot of “make-your-own” options in various product categories. From designing your Honda to Subway’s patented system of helping you prepare the perfect sandwich, I thought I had seen it all. Yet, as the saying goes, “the wise man knows he knows nothing at all.”

I’ve seen doughnut heaven, and I’m going to use McDonald’s line: “I’m lovin’ it.” Heaven is Fractured Prune Doughnuts. Yes, the name may sound kind of weird, but they have a cult following that will soon make them a household name.

Born in Ocean City, Maryland, Fractured Prune Doughnuts is a city's staple for delivering delicious, custom doughnut experiences. Gone are the days of gazing into the limited options of pre-determined rows of doughnuts. Now the customer has the power to choose from 12 different glazes and a variety of ingredients.

More importantly, the doughnuts will inspire your inner creativity. They have a “Lemonade” doughnut, a “Margarita” doughnut, and a “Peach-Glazed” doughnut made with peach-glazed graham crackers. The list goes on, and the great thing about it is that it makes Krispy Kreme and Dunkin’ Donuts look like amateurs in the art of doughnut making. Krispy, I still love you.

Fractured Prune Doughnuts have been featured on the Food Network and are expanding as franchise owners find it to be a great profit model. The doughnuts are made to order, which cuts food costs and waste.

The best thing about the entire Fractured Prune Doughnuts brand is that it’s becoming a way of life. It has its very own tribe following, which is eventually going to create a brand community of loyal, design-crazed doughnut makers.
