Qui: New York, Houston, and the World

I used to think that there was enough tequila in the world. Patron, Jose Cuervo, Casa Nobles — this is an international list. However, New York City has a way of pushing things into the marketplace and into our glasses that we didn't expect. Add to the list of all the other great things conceived in Mexico and born in New York's social life: Qui.
Qui hasn’t been on the market for long, but it is becoming a household and club name quickly. Positioned, and rightfully so, as the world’s first platinum extra añejo tequila, it’s an extra-aged tequila at its finest. I know this sounds like the next hit hip-hop song, but it’s true. Qui won the 2013 Spirits of the Americas competition as the best extra añejo tequila.

It takes a drinker to know a drink. Plus, Qui originates from the finest hand-picked agave plants, which are then aged for an average of nine years. Once it goes through the actual distilling process, you’ve got some serious stuff. Their master distiller probably knows Father Time personally.

Priced at $55 to $60 a bottle, Qui is a premium drink. It’s also making its way to Hollywood parties and other social high-life events. Men’s Journal voted it one the nicest 18 bottles of tequila; not bad for a rookie on the countertop.

But what’s the use of having a tequila this good without having some great drink recipes? Consumers can visit their site, click the “recipe” link, and get their mixologist on as well. Currently sold in New York and Houston, Qui is definitely going to be in a club near you really soon. Actually, why wait? Order a case online and enjoy yourself. Live the vida loca!
