Facebook finally released a helpful privacy tool. The new page, Privacy Basics, will actually help you understand privacy settings.

The social media giant has long been criticized for its lackluster privacy safeguards. Historically, the controls have been difficult to find and cumbersome to understand.  Even better, the new explanation is not simply limited to what your friends can see, it also includes what advertisers have the ability to see about you.

According to Facebook’s official blog post about Privacy Basics page’s release:
“Today, we’re introducing Privacy Basics, which gives you tips and a how-to guide for taking charge of your experience on Facebook. We’re also proposing updates to our termsdata policy, and cookies policy to reflect new features we’ve been working on. And we’re continuing to improve ads based on the apps and sites you use and expanding your control over this kind of advertising.

Privacy Basics offers interactive guides to answer the most commonly asked questions about how you can control your information on Facebook. For example, you can learn about untagging, unfriending, and blocking, and how to choose an audience for your posts. This information is available in 36 languages.”
