When you get to be 114 years old, you would think you wouldn’t have a need to lie about your age. Not so for Anna Stoehr. The 114-year-old woman had to lie about age in order to join Facebook.

Facebook’s age count tops out at 99 years, well shy of Stoehr’s age. Born in 1900, she was unable to select her birthdate from the list, which starts with 1905.

Stoehr created her Facebook page to keep in touch with friends and family. She was able to create the profile and navigate the social media site with the help of Joseph Ramireza, a Verizon rep. Ramireza met Stoehr when he sold her son an iPhone. After the sale, he drove to the nursing home where Stoehr lives to help her learn how to use Facebook, FaceTime, search Google, and use email.

Stoehr’s Facebook page lists the year she was born as 1915. There doesn’t seem to be an explanation as to why she didn’t just go with 1905, but at 114 she can do whatever she darn well wants.

In order to make Facebook aware of her dilemma, Stoehr typed out a letter to the site on a typewriter.
