Pop-Up Notifications Coming to Twitter

If you use twitter.com, you are about to get some web notifications. The social media network announced recently that users on their site will get a real-time pop-up notification whenever someone else on the platform engages with them.

Hurray for no more delays!

For most Twitter users, this will be most helpful when receiving a direct message in your inbox. Until now, the notifications for incoming messages have been lacking, at best. Many found it hard to even determine when a message had come in to their inbox and ended up missing messages. For anyone using Twitter for business, this was particularly annoying.

There are also interactive features, such as follow, retweet, favorite, etc. in the notifications, so you won’t have to go to another part of your timeline to do those things.

We can expect to see this new notification feature in our accounts over the next few weeks. If you are not interested in receiving pop-up notifications, you can disable them under your settings. There are also additional controls on who you receive notifications from, and under what circumstances.

For more information about this feature, check out the official announcement on Twitter’s blog.
