Good news for those of you who love Pinterest’s secret boards. The company has announced that users will now be able to enjoy an unlimited number of secret boards.
Previously, Pinterest only allowed users to have up to six secret boards. That number was up from the original three available in 2012. The secret boards — used for everything from surprise birthday parties to events you just didn’t want public — have been wildly popular, which is what led to the increase.
According to the company’s blog:
For a while, Pinterest may have feared that by increasing the number of secret boards a user could have, it would decrease their engagement on public boards. This doesn’t, however, seem to be the case. Despite the increase in secret boards allowed over the years, Pinterest users still actively contribute to the public boards as well.
“Secret boards are perfect for planning something you’re not quite ready to reveal to the world—inspiration for that website you’re building for your business, perhaps? Maybe you have personal goals you want to keep, well, personal. Try a secret board—no one will know about your fitness plan for bulking up or leaning down before your upcoming vacation.“
The unlimited secret boards comes along with numerous other notable updates to the site, including that it's now supporting gifs, and new features debuting on the iPad.
