Pinterest can add another one to the "brilliant" file with the recent launch of Place Pins.
Capitalizing upon pinners' rapidly more popular desire to utilize this social network as a veritable travel wish-list, Place Pins combine the aesthetic of a board laden with glamorous travel destinations with the functionality of a map.
The result: You can now utilize Pinterest to create maps of virtually any adventure, from a night on the town to a cross-Continental odyssey, complete with addresses, phone numbers, and the ability to collaborate on the itinerary with friends.
But the real power of Place Pins is going to manifest in how brands leverage this feature to be truly useful to customers.
Yes, place pins of a company's numerous locations comes to mind first. But what about a lovely board covering all of a state's public recreation spots? Or beautiful pictures of a long-distance bike route? Places you can grab a coffee? Farmers Markets? Or restaurants that source their food locally?
And then, there’s the added layer of being able to involve your friends in the creation of these boards. Imagine what you’ll learn when your customers start pinning places for you and others to learn about!
Oh, the possibilities. We couldn't be more excited about them.
