Over the last week, we have witnessed some battles in government that have left baby pandas in the dark. Military families missing benefits. Conversations between politicians that were supposed to be top secret being taped to reveal their true intentions. Yet, throughout all of the craziness, the brand that America has much love for has shown us the importance of looking to the greater good by showing love to the people who help make it happen every day in America.
I have to say I was so proud to read this headline in AdAge. There is someone who sees the benefit in making health care affordable for everyone! A major corporation embraced the idea and made it an opportunity to reward their employees for providing great customer care with more salary that they can use for their families and dreams. This is showing love…brand love! People love! Community love! Love for our country’s finest working people!
Every day, millions of part-time workers in America are doing what they can to make it. Think about what the lives of part-time waiters who earn $2.00 an hour would be like if major restaurant chains supported them like Disney did. There would be a lot of happy moms who could do more for their kids. There would be a lot of happy college students who could pay for a much-needed book. Free health care isn’t about hurting major corporations in the health industry; it’s about empowering people with another right as Americans. A right for you and your family to be taken care of in times of need. A right to be loved by the country you love.
Disney as a brand has always been keen in regards to showing love to America. It’s in everything they do, from racial equality in their shows and movies to theme parks that are so pristine that they have workers who are dedicated to making sure there’s no gum on the grounds. Disney even gave us Bambi, Simba, and Mickey Mouse. Yet more importantly, Disney constantly gives us a principle that is the underlying theme in all of the magic they share with our country and the world. Disney shows us and reminds us that everyone deserves a little tender love and care. And free health care can help spread a lot of love to those who are in need of some T.L.C.
