Canva Designs: Alleviating Designer Headaches

One thing I have to say about Silicon Valley is that you can start up an idea and if it’s catchy enough investors may throw a few hundred thousand your way. Over the span of my career, I’ve seen many start-ups with great ideas and some with horrible ideas, but in this world of tribes, a company can become a success if it finds its niche. “Canva Designs” is a new start-up that has created a collaboration tool that in my opinion is similar to “Base Camp” with a little Adobe Creative Suite magic. Their goal is to help alleviate the various day-to-day problems that graphic designers face. They may become the “Creative Advil” every designer needs.

Clients have always been the talk of the day as designers worldwide try to figure out the best way for them to simply love everything they do and not say a single word about the work. It seems like the ideal world. But design is about solving problems, and Canva has created a web portal that is geared toward bringing the world's best graphic designers, illustrators, and photographers together to introduce beautiful design to everyone. They want to be the best layout, mockup, and collaboration tool ever used.

Designers have two ways to make money with Canva. One: designers can submit their work to Canva and be placed into their library, then gain royalties for its use. Two: designers can use Canva as an online collaboration tool in which they can post their work online through Canva and use it to co-create designs with their clients. Clients can easily make changes to type via the web portal and put an end to the email chatter that can goes on for days. Designers can make changes instantly and not have to go through the process of opening their CS6 to make alterations to their designs.

The days of designers spending hours at a time on Getty Images may be coming to an end. The days of switching between Photoshop and Illustrator may soon become the lore of yesteryear. The days of reading those dreaded client emails may become simply a bad dream. Canva Designs is working to save us, one designer at a time.
