The Tablet: P.C. Destroyer?

Who would have thought that this day would come? The day that the father of modern computers, the P.C., would be challenged by its sibling, the tablet. Yes, it's true that the tablet is slowly but surely working to dethrone dad. Yes, it’s happening, one tablet at a time. The tech in tablets and applications are rendering the P.C. defenseless in the world of personal use and business use. Everywhere you look, the tablet is taking over....from airports to playgrounds, America is embracing the reign of the new king of the personal computer experience. 

Just this quarter, the sales of personal computers are down for the first time in history. Yes, it’s been decades of unrivaled rule for the personal computer, which has turned many Silicon Valley executives into millionaires and billionaires. It’s crazy!
The stationary desktop computer is losing ground for the two main reasons: WiFi and the ease and comfort of having a device that you can carry in the palm of your hands and do almost everything your desktop can do. Apple iPads are modern marvels and educators are incorporating them into their classrooms and schools like Chicago State University are giving them away to their freshmen classes as an incentive to transition urban youth into technology. The iPad was recently a major part of an awesome promotion for the Audi in which one of their agencies built a mini race car track where they used iPads as the remote control for the cars and allowed consumers to experience the car in various weather conditions via the tablet. Super cool! From doctors to content producers, the iPad is becoming a part of culture. People even record video with their iPads like a video camera. You can even buy specialized tripods and lenses to improve your film experience. Apple is awesome! Apple's iPad business has outgrown its Mac business in a staggering way. The iPad business is a 31-billion-dollar business, and Apple’s Mac business is a 23-billion-dollar business. Well, we know Apple is happy!

The P.C. business has been in a decline for the last five quarters, with this quarter resulting in an 11% decline in sales. It is forecasted that P.C.s are on their way out with an anticipated 10.96% decline this year as consumers opt to buy the more affordable tablet. Are we witnessing the extinction of our beloved P.C.?
Some industry insiders are saying that Google’s Android operating system is killing traditional P.C. makers because it’s free and available to tablet manufacturers. The P.C. business may be suffering right now, but the fight is really going to come down to P.C. makers giving consumers what they loved about the P.C. in the first place: an awesome personal computing experience.
