The White House officially established a presence on Pinterest almost two weeks ago and introduced its first boards this past Monday. The White House Holiday Social was also held on Monday, which Pinterest followers were offered the chance to win an exclusive invite to by registering online.

The White House Pinterest account has a little over 10,000 followers. So far, the White House’s account has five boards:
  1. The People’s Pins – These pins appear to be exclusively repinned from people all over the country. Currently there are only pins from the recent White House Holiday Social, but it looks like the staff behind the account plan to pull in other posts from White House visitors who use the #AtTheWH tag. This board has the most followers, more than 9,750, of all five boards, but the least amount of pins with only six.
  2. Events & Holidays – This board features pins from various holidays and notable occasions held at the White House from the Easter Egg Roll to the Fourth of July dating as far back as 2009. (8,200+ followers, 12 pins)
  3. The First Lady – Each of these pins is all about the First Lady Michelle Obama in her campaigns to support America’s military families and to lead the movement to raise healthier American children. (8,200+ followers, 13 pins)
  4. Inspiring – The pins included on this board represent noble and heartfelt moments from President Obama’s time as Commander in Chief including a pin from the recent prayer vigil in Newtown, CT and President Obama embracing with Gabby Giffords. (8,200+ followers, 11 pins)
  5. 1600 – This board is all about exploring the paraphernalia and history of the White House. The pins here offer White House fun facts and alternative views inside the residence at 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue. (8,200+ followers, 10 pins)
The White House’s presence on Pinterest can be added to its pretty extensive overall social media presence, in which it has an active presence on Facebook, Twitter, Flickr, YouTube, and Google+. President Obama’s time as Commander in Chief will definitely become The White House’s most active years in social media history!
