I love it when businesses use social media tools in ways that make as much creative sense as business sense. Case in point: Comodo, a new Latin American restaurant in New York City using Instagram in a way that's as innovative as it is obvious.
So when you go to a restaurant, what's the first thing you do after you take your seat? You open the menu. And what does a typical menu look like? Usually, it's all text. Menus with photos are usually reserved for the ceilings above Chinese food take-out counters.
But these days, food photos are everywhere. There's even a #foodporn hashtag. Hence, Comodo's reasoning for using Instagram:
"People love to Instagram their food. So, we used their photos to create The Instagram Menu
It sounds so logical, doesn't it? People like to take pictures of their food. Why not capitalize on that? So now, Comodo has a hashtag, #ComodoMenu, which you can search the next time you want images and opinions of what to order at the restaurant. Genius!
The Instagram Menu truly sounds like a trend that we could see become standard practice for restaurants everywhere. Do you know of any other restaurants doing this?
