| Facebook Gets Serious About Rivaling Pinterest |

Facebook has begun testing a "Collections" feature that allows users to save products to wish lists via "Want" and "Collect" buttons that marketers can now include on product posts. People can see their friends' wish lists and then purchase products they like off-site with the click of a "buy" button.
As this Hubspot post points out, this feature is, in theory, just like Pinterest. And it promises to prove to be rather convenient when you're on the hunt for gift ideas ( significant others, take notice). But on its face, this new feature feels like Pinterest's stuffy, corporate poser of a cousin.
Plus, it may not even be the best Pinterest competition out there.
Case in point: TheFancy.com, or "Fancy," a social network much like Pinterest, except much of what's posted there can be bought directly on the site. If you haven't heard of it yet, you might hear more soon, as Apple is reportedly in talks to buy the site. A cool $10 million from investors and recent accounts snagged by Mark Zuckerberg and Kanye West have also created quite a bit of buzz.
But perhaps the good thing to take away from all this is that there is competition for Pinterest, which means end users now have options. If they don't want to join another social network, they can stick with Facebook and try the Collections feature. If they don't want to join Pinterest, there's Fancy, or a host of other competitors to choose from.
Has anyone used the Collections feature, or other Pinterest-like competition? What did you think?
