What's New With Google+?

I have a confession to make: I haven't logged on to my Google+ account in weeks. Weeks. Perhaps I just lost a little street cred as a social media nerd. Or perhaps I'm just normal, I don't know.

Upon logging in, I was kind of sorry I hadn't sooner. A lot has changed over there! A new homepage design, new profile designs with cover photos...it actually looks kind of nice. And then, well, my guilt went away.

But that's just me. All the changes a-brewin' might inspire you to be more active on Google+. So in addition to the aesthetics, I thought I'd compile a list of some more changes afoot on the social network:

Google+ has introduced vanity URLs for a select bunch of brands. And it's about time, because Google + URLs are impossible to remember and laughably dysfunctional when you consider the fact that Facebook has been on this no-brainer for at least the last three years.

It appears Google proper is no longer pushing its social-search results. This refers to Google's push earlier this year to integrate Google+ into search results, as well as give its users some extra weight in the search returns.

Google seems to be making strides for brands, but not so much for personal engagement. However, this could be because more engagement is taking place within specific circles, rather than using the "public" setting.

Any other Google+ thoughts or updates you'd like to share?
