The Single Most Compelling Reason Why Guys Should Use Pinterest

Listen up, fellas. We're about to give you a darn good reason to join Pinterest.
Yes, this wildly popular social network is currently dominated by women. And we've told you before how we think it's kind of ridiculous that you don't join up because of it. And yes, we are aware of the faux-Pinterest social networks cropping up out there, aiming to cater just to your needs. But we digress.
Actually, the reason you should join Pinterest has nothing to do with you at all. It does, however, have everything to do with your girlfriend, wife, life partner, sugar mama, whatever.
See, we know that whether you've been with your significant other for years or just started dating, you will inevitably, at least once, find yourself panicking — whether it's in front of a computer screen or perfume counter at the department store — about what to buy her for {insert holiday or relationship/life milestone here}. This is because we know you're not always paying attention when your love interest talks.
Chances are, you're already hip to using social media to uncover thoughtful gift ideas. There's the tried and true method of trolling the Facebook profile of your intended. Other social networks, such as Stumbleupon, even encourage you to use them for last-minute gift-giving ideas.
But Pinterest? Mark our words, gentlemen: Pinterest could quite possibly provide the easiest, most effective method for helping you make that dude from The Notebook look like a cold-hearted jerk.
We know you boys are visual by nature. Well, Pinterest has pictures. Lots of them. In fact, that's all Pinterest is. The pictures also send you to links that often reveal how you can make or buy what's in the pictures.
And we also know you tend to be solution-driven. When you have a problem (such as what to buy your girlfriend for her birthday) you need to find a solution — not talk it out. Pinterest allows people to caption and comment on the pictures they pin.
So, to recap: People who use Pinterest see a picture they like, and they "pin" it. They can also add a caption or comment to said pin, often using very direct phrases such as "I love this" or "I need this." They can even organize their pins into categories, often conveniently named "recipes I must try," "clothes I want," or "stuff I wish my boyfriend would buy me."
Could Pinterest possibly make it any easier for you to become the thoughtful gift-giving rock star your lady knows is in there somewhere?
In all seriousness, we're wondering if Pinterest has touted its potential as a Mecca for gift ideas. Perhaps we'll see a more concerted effort next holiday season.
Have you ever used Pinterest, or other social networks, just to get gift ideas?
