We're just catching up with it, but we're cheering Ogilvy's PR Blogger Outreach Code of Ethics as a tangible reminder that bloggers aren't to be pestered by PR people if they don't want to be. These days, it's too easy to maintain a list of bloggers and send them promotional emails on behalf of a PR firm's clients or other objectives. Good PR manners in a social media age – or any age – avoid harassing people. And yes, bloggers are people, another form of media.

Among the 13 points in Ogilvy's blogger outreach code is "We don't pretend to have read your blog if we haven't." Such consideration should go a long way for Ogilvy in bloggers' eyes – good, relational PR, indeed!
