Fearless Girl and McCann Make History at Clios

The well-deserved coronation of Fearless Girl from McCann for State Street continued last night at the 2017 Clio Awards, walking away with a record five Clio Grand Honors.

Randi Zuckerberg introduced the agency’s historic wins for branded content, public relations, events/experiential, out-of-home and Innovation during a special presentation.

"We are humbled by the overwhelming global response to the work we did for our State Street client, said Eric Silver, chief creative officer of McCann North America. “The Fearless Girl has become a massive cultural icon that people not only talk about, but make time to visit when they're in New York City. This is the type of work we strive to produce every day. We're lucky to have incredible clients who support us in the work we do."

Hosted by the inimitable Cecily Strong of Saturday Night Live, the 58th annual ceremony placed a premium on work that made a substantial difference in culture and society.

“Our 58th annual ceremony showcased the true power of creativity. Many of our winners spoke of the importance of this industry, and the brilliant, challenging, inspiring projects happening around the world,” said Nicole Purcell, president, Clio. “The creatives responsible for all of the winning work last night displayed guts and bravery in the fight to bring their projects to life. At Clio, we are proud to celebrate and honor the work that makes people think and feel, 365 days a year.”

Other Grand Clio winners included 180LA for Boost Mobile (direct), David for Burger King (two winners in digital/mobile and print), Grey Germany for Terre des Femmes FMG (“The Power of Imagery” category), Leo Burnett Toronto for Ikea Canada, McCann Worldgroup for India for Ministry of Public Health (product design), Pereira & O’Dell for Netscout (branded entertainment), The Martin Agency for Donate Life (film) and Überground GmbH for LIDL (integrated).

In the “Of the Year” categories, State Street Global Advisors was named advertiser of the year, McCann New York as agency of the year and BBDO as agency network of the year.
