Twitter Adds Sponsored Messages on Periscope

Twitter has introduced a new way to monetize live content on the platform by opening Periscope to the Amplify program.

Amplify is an advertising product that pairs brands with content creators, typically for pre-roll video ads, but it doesn’t look like Periscope will incorporate pre-roll ads anytime soon.

The Periscope ad product will debut on Andy Roddick's broadcast covering the US Open, with Grey Goose Vodka and JPMorgan Chase as brand partners. These branded stream ads have several threads. The stream is tweeted by the creator and shared by brands via Promoted Tweets.
