|Netflix Users Would Rather Quit Altogether Than See Ads
By: Business Insider
Recent Nielsen data on Netflix content could be a precursor to the appearance of ads on the streaming service, but the company might want to think twice about going down that road.
Almost 75% of Netflix users said in an All Flicks survey that they would rather abandon the service altogether than see ads on the platform. All Flicks conducted the survey among 1,200 Netflix users in the U.S. on Reddit, so take the data with a grain of salt, as these users may not be representative of the Netflix's entire user base.
Even so, the survey results should make Netflix and other streaming services pay attention.
Netflix does not carry ads and has not indicated any plans to do so in the future. In fact, CEO Reed Hastings said on Facebook last June that the company would not serve any ads. But Nielsen's TV-rating measurements could be the first step down that path.
