Forbes writer Ryan Caldbeck feels that technology innovation gets more than its share of press. He sees great innovation happening with consumer and retail brands and compiled a list of 25 consumer and retail companies that are blazing the way with innovation.

Some of the companies were familiar, like Harry’s and Tough Mudder. Some of the innovative companies we hadn’t heard of include 4Moms, SoulCycle, Shinola, Boll & Branch, Epic Provisions, Barry’s Bootcamp and Blue Apron. The companies are successful, had solid funding, and have loyal customer following. There were also some commonalities in these innovative consumer and retail brands.

Several companies bring farm-fresh ingredients to our home to inspire us to cook more healthy. Several companies offer protein bars that they feel are tasty and made out of ingredients such as crickets or animal protein. Several companies offer workouts designed to be more fun and hip. Can you identify one of the trends? We want to be healthy in how we cook, what we cook and how we feel. Companies that follow this trend will more easily find a group of interested consumers willing to buy their products.

The list is worth reading and it is interesting to see the groups that funded them. It might bring inspiration for the next innovative brand.
